Unlock the Camps in Sri Lanka

From Amnesty International:

300,000 people displaced by the fighting in Sri Lanka are held by the government in de facto detention camps. They cannot leave the camps, where conditions are "appalling" according to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

Call on the Sri Lankan government to immediately allow the displaced civilians freedom of movement: those who wish to leave the camps should be free to do so. Urge them to place the camps under civilian, not military, management and to allow aid agencies, journalists and human rights observers full, unhindered access to the camps to carry out their functions and prevent possible abuses.

Civilians of any ethnicity should not be held as prisoners in camps by their own government. It's a shame that the international community is not condemning these atrocities by the Sri Lankan government." At least the voices of ordinary citizens" aroudn the world should be heard.

Its important for a society to be sensitive to its own admissions of fault(s) or perversions to stop a regime from going insane. Its therefore important to convince the Sinhala South that the Tamil people should also have the same decent democracy in living in their own homes or where they prefer.

It is an insult to lock the innocent people in detention camps continuously for months.Since the time earmarked by Rajapaksa is round the corner, the whole world should insist on fixing a date to release the suffering folk. That is very very important.
