Milestone: NLD Holds its First General Meeting Inside Burma in a Decade :)
Last week, Aung San Suu Kyi's political party, the National League for Democracy, held its first general meeting inside Burma in a decade. :)

Though this convergence of the party's officials was a highly significant moment, their leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, still remains locked up under house arrest. Despite being imprisoned for 13 of the last 19 years, Suu Kyi continues to serve as a beacon of courage and inspiration that freedom and democracy will prevail in Burma.
Now, we're calling on you to send a message of support and solidarity to Aung San Suu Kyi and everyone who stands up against Than Shwe's brutal military regime. Sign up for Arrest Yourself 2009 and tell Aung San Suu Kyi - We stand with you in calling for freedom, democracy and human rights in Burma.
390 people around the world are already planning events for Arrest Yourself 2009. Help us reach 500 events by the end of this week by signing up today! :)

What is "Arrest Yourself"?
The U.S. Campaign for Burma organizes the "Arrest Yourself" campaign annually as a show of solidarity with Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been locked up by Burma's military regime for 13 of the last 19 years.
When you sign up to "Arrest Yourself" you are agreeing to stay home for 24 hours under self-imposed house arrest one day between now and Aung San Suu Kyi's 64th birthday on June 19th. During your house arrest, you will invite friends and family to your home for a few hours to educate them about Aung San Suu Kyi and the situation in Burma and to collect donations to help make our work possible.
We will mail you all of the materials that you need, including DVDs, petitions, recipes for Burmese food and info sheets to make organizing your event and collecting donations streamlined and simple. We will use the donations you collect to continue our campaigns for freedom and human rights in Burma.
Watch our video to learn more about Arrest Yourself, and what we're asking you to do. Every year, Arrest Yourself events educate thousands of people about Aung San Suu Kyi and raise thousands of dollars for the campaign to free her and all of Burma's political prisoners.
Learn more about the NLD's first general meeting in over a decade and raise your voice by signing up to Arrest Yourself today. Together, we can help to free Aung San Suu Kyi!
As well, go to their advocacy and action center to struggle with genocide against the Burmese :)
